AUDITION NOTES FOR MALE CHARACTERS

While we would like for you to try your best to sing these songs in the octaves that they are written in, we do not want singing discomfort to take away from the character. If you feel you need to adjust the octave or modify notes in any of the above excerpts, that is ok! We want to hear you at your absolute best and vocal health is paramount. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

CASTING AND REHEARSALS

We plan to organize two separate casts, with each cast having no more than 18 performers.  There are 13 named roles, and we hope to fill 5 additional ensemble spots.  The 5 ensemble spots will also act as covers for 5 of the named roles.  Covers will be given a full run during pre-tech week that will be recorded and open to immediate family.

"Blue Cast" will consist of performers in GRADES 6-8 and rehearse primarily on MONDAYS from 6 -9 PM and SATURDAYS from 9 AM - 12 PM.

"Red Cast" will consist of performers in GRADES 8-12 and rehearse primarily on WEDNESDAYS from 6
-9 PM and SATURDAYS from 9 AM - 12 PM.

A NOTE ABOUT SHOW CONTENT

13! The Musical is a coming-of-age story with content that reflects the experiences of teenagers who are navigating the joys and challenges of adolescence in a candid way.   It's a familiar and heartfelt story that visits those awkward and hormone-filled middle school years that we all go through.  It exams the themes of first love, rejection, fitting-in, consequences of one's actions, and standing up for what you believe in. The subjects 13! addresses lie somewhere between High School Musical and Grease, and there is mild language and an occasional sexual innuendo.  Please note that our production will not alter songs or change lyrics and dialogue.  We encourage parents to familiarize themselves with the material by listening to the cast album or finding a production on youtube before their child auditions.
